School bus driver dead after morning accident

CHINA GROVE — A Rowan-Salisbury Schools bus driver died in an accident caused by a medical condition Monday morning.
Children were on the bus, but none was injured in the crash.
The bus hit a pole at the corner of Main and Church streets in China Grove about 7 a.m. Monday.
Police said the driver had a medical condition that led to the accident.
Rita Foil, a spokeswoman from the school district, said the students were transported to school safely. School counselors were available if needed.
China Grove Middle School Principal Ben Crawford sent a Connect-ED message to parents informing them of the accident.
The driver was not identified Monday.
