SALISBURY — Police took a Salisbury man who doused himself in gasoline into custody after a nearly two-hour standoff with officers at a Corbin Hills residence Friday afternoon.
Authorities were called to a home in the 400 block of Wildwood Drive about 1:40 p.m. and officers said they found Jacob Dobbins, 24, armed with a machete and baseball bat inside the home.
Investigators said Dobbins doused himself and the home in gasoline before holing up in the residence.
Authorities said they haven’t determined what led to the incident. A neighbor told the Post he saw Dobbins waving a machete out of a second-story window as officers were arriving on the scene.
About 4 p.m., negotiators and the department’s Special Response Team pulled Dobbins from the scene.
It was unclear if Dobbins will be charged in the standoff.
He was taken to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center for evaluation, police said.
