SALISBURY – Mrs. Catherine Fisher Lyerly, 87, of Salisbury, formerly of Spencer, died Sunday Dec. 24, 2006.

Mrs. Lyerly was born March 21, 1919 in Salisbury, the daughter of the late Charles Godfrey Fisher and Flossie Cauble Fisher. She was educated in Salisbury public schools and was a graduate of Salisbury Business College. She was employed by Bishop Leonard Jewelers in downtown Salisbury for many years prior to her marriage to J.L. “Pete” Lyerly Jr. on March 24, 1950. She was married to Mr. Lyerly for 55 years until his death on Nov. 29, 2005. Mrs. Lyerly was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Salisbury.

Since Jan. 2006 Mrs. Lyerly was a resident of the Carillon Assisted Living Facility where she made many friends among the residents and staff.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her beloved husband and her brother Charles G. Fisher Jr.

Mrs. Lyerly is survived by her two sons, Charles “Jack” Lyerly and wife Martha of Clemmons, and John Lyerly of Charlotte; granddaughters, Jennifer Lyerly and Allison Lyerly and her grandsons, Christopher Lyerly and Jonathan Lyerly, all of Clemmons.

Service: Graveside Service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rowan Memorial Park with Rev. Whayne M. Hougland, Minister of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Salisbury, officiating.

Visitation: Family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.
