SALISBURY – Michael Lee “Paw Paw” Russell, 64, died Saturday Dec. 23, 2006 at his residence.

He was born Dec. 1, 1942 in Tampa, Fla. To the late Zeda Lee McDaniel Brown and Frank Russell. He graduated from RJ Reynolds High School in Winston-Salem and was a US Army Veteran serving from 1966-1972. He managed a motel in Santa Monica, Calif. and retired in 1996 with disability. He was of the Baptist Faith and a member of the Disabled American Veterans.

He is survived by son, Michael Brett Russell and wife Jessica of Charlotte; brothers, Patrick Russell of Advance, Danny Russel of Tellico-Plains, Tenn. And Kieran Brown of Winston Salem; grandchildren, Kylie, Victoria, Brandon and Kaitlyn and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside Service: 2 p.m. Friday at Salisbury National Cemetery officiated by Rev. Mike Davis, with military honors by the Rowan County Honor Guard.

Visitation: 12:30-1:30 p.m. at Lyerly Funeral Home.
