Phyllis Chapman “Dinky” Gibson, 65, formerly of Kannapolis, died Thursday (Dec. 28, 2006) at Kindred Hospital, Greensboro, following a month of serious illness.

Born March 30, 1941, in Rowan County, Mrs. Gibson was a daughter of the late Melvin F. and Dorothy Adcock Chapman.

She was a homemaker and avid flower gardener.

Survivors include sister Geraldine Powell, China Grove; brothers Doug and Craig Chapman, both of Kannapolis, and Richard Chapman, Salisbury; and a grandson.

A service was held Saturday (Dec. 30, 2006) at Whitley’s Funeral Home. Burial, West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove.
