David Earl Dunn

SALISBURY – David Earl Dunn, 60, of Salisbury, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte after several years of declining health and three months of severely bad health.
Born Aug. 25, 1946, in Duplin County, Mr. Dunn was a son of the late Mary Susan Eaves Dunn and Claude Herman Dunn. Educated in Harnett County schools, he was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Dunn retired from civil service at Cherry Point as a painter. After retirement, he managed Midway and Mobile Lodge trailer parks. He was of the Baptist faith.
Preceding him in death were sister Mary Naylor and her husband, R.C., and brother Roger Dunn and his wife, Sherry.
Surviving are niece (daughter) Sue Shackleford, husband Christopher and children Alesea, Brittney and Christopher; niece Frances White, husband R.L. and children Kyle and Jessica; nephew and best friend Randal Naylor, wife Michelle and children Emily, Jessica, Aaron, Nickey, Dawn and Randy; brother Herman Dunn of Salisbury; nieces Carolyn Jenkins, Christy Dunn and son Mathis Dunn; sister Patricia Dunn of Salisbury; and adopted family Michell Little, Adam, Tracy and James Appleton.
Graveside service: 1 p.m. Monday at the U.S. National Cemetery, Statesville Boulevard location, with a VA chaplain officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by Rowan County Honor Guard.
Visitation: 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Monday at Lyerly Funeral Home.
