Lula Mae Mason Crump

LEXINGTON – Lula Mae Mason Crump, 96, of 487 Hairston Road, died Sunday Jan. 7, 2007, at Alston Brook Retirement Center following six months of serious illness.
Mrs Crump was born Aug. 1, 1910, in Keysville, Va., to the late Sollie and Mary Mason. She was reared by an aunt and uncle, Fred and Lucille Mason of Mocksville, in the Cedar Grove Community. She was educated in the public schools of Forsyth County and retired from Davidson Funeral Home as a custodian.
Mrs. Crump was an active member of Buncombe Baptist Church, where she served in the Choir, Sunday School teacher, Missionary, BTU and Kitchen Committee. She was also Mother of the Church and was active in Rowan Baptist Association.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Damon J. Crump; brother Leroy Mason; and three grandchildren.
Surviving are sons Thomas Crump (Helen), Willie Roy Crump (Jennie), Lewis T. Crump (Priscilla) and Rev. Calvin E. Crump (Rena), all of Lexington; daughters Nora Jean Crump Hairston, Joan C. Rogers, Annie L. Arnette and Christine Peebles, all of Lexington; 44 grandchildren; 101 great-grandchildren; and 34 great-great-grandchildren.
Service: Friday at 3 p.m. at Buncombe Baptist Church, Lexington, with the Rev. Claude Forehand officiating and the Rev. James G. Woodson as eulogist. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation: Friday at 2:30 p.m. at the church. The family is also receiving friends at 487 Hairston Road, Lexington.
