DURHAM — Duke will retire the jersey numbers of Shelden Williams and J.J. Redick, coach Mike Krzyzewski said Thursday.
Williams’ No. 23 will be retired Jan. 28, and the ceremony for Redick’s No. 4 is Feb. 4. They will become the 12th and 13th Duke players to have their numbers retired.
“Both of these players are deserving of this honor,” Krzyzewski said. “They were very different players but worked amazingly well together for four years.”
Williams holds school records with 1,262 rebounds, 422 blocked shots and 3.03 blocks per game. He concluded his career last season 12th among Duke’s scoring leaders with 1,928 points and now plays for the Atlanta Hawks.
Redick holds school and ACC scoring records, is 16th in NCAA history with 2,769 points and set an NCAA career record with 457 3-pointers. He is with the Orlando Magic.
