Rodney C. Vaughn

CONCORD — Rodney Charles Vaughn, 60, 2909 Deep Cove Drive, died Jan. 9, 2007, at his home.

Born June 22, 1946, Aurora, Ill., Mr. Vaughn was a son of the late James Roland and Lillian Violet Yates Vaughn.

He graduated from West Aurora High School and college and moved to this area in 1990. He worked for Americhem Inc. for 20 years, retiring in December.

He coached son Robin in soccer, basketball and track and field and was a Cub Scout leader.

Son Brett Frey preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Bonnie Johnson Vaughn; sons Randall Vaughn, Mooresville, Robyn Vaughn, Concord, and Brian Frey, Algonquin, Ill.; daughters Mollie Bangert, Concord, and Wendy Settlemyer, Kannapolis; brothers Steven Vaughn, Batavia, Ill., and Mark Vaughn, Poway, Calif.; sisters Debbie Eckel, Roscoe, Ill., Becky Vaughn, Cave Creek, Ariz., Sue Tessmer, Rhineland, Wisc., Lori Spoden, Montgomery, Ill., Lisa Pitstick, Sugar Grove, Ill.; and three grandchildren.

A service was held Saturday (Jan. 13, 2007) at Whitley’s Funeral Home, Kannapolis, conducted by Dr. Warren Casidy. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis.
