Frances (Christine) Farrell Safrit

KANNAPOLIS – Frances (Christine) Farrell Safrit, 80 years young/old, went to meet her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007, from her home. She had been in declining health for one year and seriously ill the last four months.
Mrs. Safrit was born Dec. 9, 1926, in Rowan County, the daughter of the late Martin Gamewell Farrell and the late Bessie Lee Christy Farrell. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She always sought to meet the needs of others.
She served in the army of the Lord Jesus Christ as a member of the Enochville Church of God for over 50 years. As a church member, she was faithful in all things. She taught the Ladies Sunday school class for many years, worked with the children’s choirs, Vacation Bible School, Ladies Monday night prayer, adult choir and sang with many groups and was a soloist.
Mrs. Safrit stayed at Oakboro Baptist Church Home for the Aged for nine months. While there she attended Big Lick Baptist Church. Mrs. Safrit traveled and sang at many churches and nursing homes in the surrounding areas and many of the churches in this area counted her as an honorary member.
Heaven bears record of all the ways she served and most of all the lives that she has touched and made a difference in.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Nolan H. Safrit, her infant son, David Eugene Safrit, seven sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include sons William H. Safrit and wife Kelly of Kannapolis, James C. Safrit of Concord and Timothy W. Safrit and wife Barbara of Kannapolis; daughters Kay F. Hardy of Kannapolis, Mary A. Huneycutt and husband Lonnie of Oakboro and Doris Dudley Smith of Concord; 20 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren
Service: A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Enochville Church of God, Kannapolis, with the Rev. David Shoemake, the Rev. Jeff Springer, the Rev. Sonny Waller, the Rev. Jeff Upright, the Rev. Ronnie Cooper and the Rev. Clayton Palmer officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove. The body will lie in-state 30 minutes prior to the service at church.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Saturday at Whitley’s Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the residence at 511 Spring Garden Ave., Kannapolis.
