Eva Connell Doss

TRINITY – Eva Connell Doss, 96, a resident of 5977 Welborn Road, passed away Friday, Jan. 19, 2007, at her home after several years of declining health.
Mrs. Doss was born on March 12, 1910, in Cabarrus County to the late Louico M. Connell and Lula Leach Connell. She was married to Archibald “Jack” Doss, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Colleen Doss Sides Wiles in 1992, two brothers, Olin and Carl Connell, and her beloved cat “Pepper,” a companion for 22 years.
She retired from Cone Mills, Salisbury Plant in 1975 after 30 years of service, having lived in Woodleaf and Salisbury during that time. She moved to Trinity in 1975 and was employed by Community General Hospital and retired from there at 80 years of age. Mrs. Doss loved to travel, garden, fish and watch birds.
Surviving are her son, Donald Ray Doss and wife Edna of Trinity; daughters Juanita Chaffin Owen of Woodleaf and Geraldine Powell of Yorktown, Va.; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Service: A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Rowan Memorial Park in Salisbury with the Rev. Roger Porter officiating. The body will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville until the hour of the service.
Visitation: The family will be at the funeral home Monday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and at other times at the home of the son, Donald Ray Doss, 5977 Welborn Road.
