Looking back: Cannon Troop
Published 12:00 am Wednesday, January 24, 2007
Members of the Kannapolis Boy Scout Cannon Patrol in 1973 are shown at the Rowan Mall in Salisbury before they boarded a bus to take them to the National Boy Scout Jamboree at Farragut State Park in Idaho.
On the front row, left to right, they are Stan Harris, Johnny Freeze, Randy Huffman and Andy Harris; back row, Clint Eastham, Mike Chapman, Edwin Boone, Billy Buchanan, Bill Griggs, David Perry and Scoutmaster Carter Harris.
One or both parents of most of the boys worked for Cannon Mills Company. While the patrol was not sponsored by Cannon Mills, the group chose the name, Cannon Patrol, and planned to be goodwill ambassadors for Cannon during the jamboree.
