Willie John Heilig

KANNAPOLIS – Willie John Heilig, 80, of 5912 Princeton Ave., died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007, at NorthEast Medical Center in Concord following 10 years of declining health.
Born April 29, 1926, in Rowan County, Mr. Heilig was a son of the late John Heilig and Lena Atkins Heilig. A veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II, he was employed by Cannon Mills for 27 years.
Mr. Heilig was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, where he formerly had served as chairman of the Deacon Board for 15 years.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Davis Heilig of the home; sons Ronnie (Rosella) Heilig of Kannapolis, Randy (Dedra) Heilig of Concord and Eugene (Lavonda) Caldwell of Harrisburg; daughter Kelly (Stanley) Barr of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Service: 3 p.m. today, Macedonia Baptist Church in Concord with the Rev. John Leazer officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Visitation: 2-3 p.m. today at the church.
