Dewey M. Barringer, Sr.

GOLD HILL – Dewey Murphy Barringer, Sr., 82, of Gold Hill, died Sunday Jan. 21, 2007 at Autumn Care of Salisbury.
He was born June 17, 1924 in Cabarrus County to the late John P. Barringer and Merttie Mae Isenhour Barringer. He was educated in the Cabarrus County Schools and a member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the US Navy, was a member of the American Legion and retired as a mechanic in 1986 from Earnhardt Motors.
Mr. Barringer is survived by his wife, Pauline Troutman Barringer, whom he married April 26, 1945; sons, Dewey Murphy Barringer, Jr. and wife Shelia of Salisbury, Sammy Lee Barringer and wife Judy of Denton; brothers, Felix Barringer of China Grove, Robert Barringer of Richfield; sisters, Jettie Hill of Gold Hill; grandchildren, Jennifer Stirewalt, Wendy DiStefano, Mark Barringer and Daniel Barringer and great-grandchildren, Phillip Stirewalt and Holly DiStefano.
Service: 3 p.m. Wednesday at St. Stephens Lutheran Church, Gold Hill, conducted by Rev. Constance Garrett, Pastor and Rev. Floyd Bost. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Graveside Rites by the Rowan County Honor Guard.
Visitation: 6:30-8 p.m. tonight at Powles Funeral Home and at the residence the remainder of the time.
