Wild in the streetsFirst, we had the tale of Ramblin’ Red, the red wolf that escaped its confines at Dan Nicholas Park last year and stayed on the run in Rowan County for nine days before being recaptured. Now, we have the story of a black bear that was spotted at various locales around Salisbury on Sunday.
Since the wolf’s escapades have since been immortalized in song, “The Ballad of Ramblin’ Red,” it seems only fair that the bear get equal lyrical exposure. Of course, we’ll have to come up with a catchy title. “The Ballad of a Hungry Bear?” “A Walk on Salisbury’s Wild Side?” “Smoky Visits the Historic District?” Send us your suggestions.
Meanwhile, we anxiously await the next installment of Rowan County’s Wild Kingdom. If anybody sees Bigfoot on Jake Alexander Boulevard, let us know.
