RALEIGH ó State Transportation Secretary Lyndo Tippett today announced that the highway administrator for the N.C. Department of Transportation is retiring Jan. 1, 2007.
Len Sanderson, a 36-year department employee, has served as highway administrator since March 1998.
“We appreciate Len’s service over the years and wish him the best,” Tippett said. “The search for a replacement has begun, and we plan to have this important position filled as soon as possible.”
Sanderson joined the N.C. Department of Transportation in June 1970 as an engineer in training. He has held a number of positions through the years, including highway engineer and construction administration manager.
