Harold S. Martin
CHINA GROVE ó Harold Spencer Martin, 87, 1745 N. Main St., died June 6, 2007, at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury
Born Nov. 2, 1919, in Rowan County, Mr. Martin was a son of the late Harry Edward and Hattie Ethel Chilson Martin.
Educated in the Rowan County schools, he spent four years with the U.S. Army’s Signal Corps, serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
He retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad and volunteered with many charities, especially Rowan Helping Ministries.
He was a member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church and Lutheran Men in Mission.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Ruby Ketner Martin; stepdaughter Theresa Safrit, China Grove; sister Doris Prichard, Charlotte; two stepgrandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
A service was held Saturday (June 9, 2007) at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. Michael Comer. Burial, West Lawn Memorial Park.
Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home was in charge.
