Florence Adams
CONCORD ó Florence Parker Harris Adams, 86, of 3700 Taylor Glen Lane, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008.
Mrs. Adams was born at Walter Reed Hospital, Washington, D.C., on Aug. 30, 1921, to the late Lt. Lee and Beatrice Harris. She married the late William Lee Adams in 1941.
After receiving her nursing certification from Northern Virginia College, Mrs. Adams trained as a cardiovascular nurse specialist at the University of Texas, Houston. She practiced nursing at Watauga Medical Center in Boone for many years following her husband’s retirement from the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include son William Lee Adams Jr. of Wilmington; daughters Patricia L. Adams of Winston- Salem, Clarita King of Concord and Joan Moore of Boone; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral and burial were at Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, D.C. A memorial service was held at Taylor Glen Baptist Home on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008.
