The college football notebook …
CLEMSON, S.C. ó Clemson will be back on ESPN’s College GameDay, although not from campus.
The college football show will be broadcast from Atlanta’s Centennial Olympic Park on Aug. 30, near where the Tigers will open the season against Alabama in the Georgia Dome. That game will be broadcast on ABC.
College GameDay will be part of the ESPN Kickoff Week Festival. The network says it will show 24 games across all their broadcast platforms from Aug. 28 through Sept. 1.
College GameDay came to Clemson in 2006 before the Tigers 31-7 victory over Georgia Tech.
OKLAHOMA
NORMAN, Okla. ó Along with trying to win a third straight Big 12 championship and righting recent BCS struggles, the Oklahoma Sooners left their media day Wednesday with another goal in mind: Saving lives.
Dozens of players followed coach Bob Stoops’ lead in going through screening to become a bone marrow donor, hoping to help a 10-year-old Sooners fan and others suffering from cancer and blood disorders.
“When you think about it, one day you could actually save somebody’s life. To me, that’s something really important that you should do,” said linebacker Austin Box, who sat down at a table to complete his screening shortly after Stoops got done.
TENNESSEE
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. ó Defensive back Vince Faison has left the Tennessee football team, citing continued high blood pressure.
Faison joined the Vols in spring practice after a nine-year professional baseball career.
Faison, 27, was a 2000 first-round draft pick of the San Diego Padres.
AUBURN
AUBURN, Ala. ó Auburn freshman safety DeRon Furr has left the team after two positions switches and a recent practice scuffle.Coach Tommy Tuberville said Tuesday that Furr was leaving the team. The coach didn’t give a reason for the player’s decision.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. ó Florida tight end Cornelius Ingram missed practice on Wednesday with a strained left knee and his status is uncertain.
