Agner 60th Anniversary
Harry Lee Agner and Doris Cress Agner of Salisbury were honored for their 60th wedding anniversary at a reception for family and friends held Aug. 8, 2009, at Christiana Lutheran Church. The celebration was hosted by their children and their families.
The Agners were married Aug. 7, 1949, at Haven Lutheran Church. Harry is the former owner of the Chicken & Oyster Shack in Spencer, and Doris is the former manager of Tobias Clothing in Salisbury.
Their children are Stephen Craig Agner (wife Sherri) of Chapel Hill and Vickie Agner Keene (husband Mike) and Denise Agner Hallett (husband Michael), all of Salisbury. Their three grandchildren are Christy Renee Agner of Raleigh and Andrew Francis Hallett and Sarah Bess Hallett of Salisbury.
Brennan – Sink Engagement
Mr. Mark Thomas Brennan of Belmont, Mass., and Ms. Deborah Lockwood Brennan of Sonoma, Calif., are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Lindsay Elizabeth Brennan of New York City, to Danny Lynn Sink, also of New York City.
The bride-to-be is granddaughter of Mr. Harreld DeMunbrun, Ms. Joanne Furbush Ruby and the late Mr. John Thomas Brennan and Mrs. Betty DeMunbrun.
Miss Brennan is a graduate of Belmont, Mass., High School and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Leisure and Sport Management from Elon University. Lindsay is currently employed by Teachers College at Columbia University in New York as the Associate Director of Alumni Relations.
The future bridegroom is the son of Ms. Harriet Lyerly of Salisbury, N.C., and Mr. Lynn Sink of Cornelius, N.C. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harry C. Lyerly, Mr. L.R. Sink and Ms. Patti Jean Sink, all of Salisbury. Danny is a 1990 graduate of East Rowan High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Danny is employed by the United States Golf Association and is the Manager of U.S. Open Championships.
An Aug. 23 wedding is planned in New York City with a reception to follow at the Central Park Boathouse. After a honeymoon trip to Australia and New Zealand, the couple will reside in San Francisco, Calif.
Fry – Fink Engagement
Leonard Garrison Fry Jr. and Patricia Greene Fry of Salisbury are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Shena Danielle Fry, to Jason Matthew Fink of Salisbury.
The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Joan Allen and the late Earl ěBudî Greene of Salisbury. A 2004 graduate of East Rowan High School, Shena received a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2008.
The future groom is the son of Kenneth Ray Fink and Pamela Loftin Fink of Salisbury and the grandson of Clyde C. and the late Mary Hinson Fink of Salisbury, the late Luther and Hazel Allen and the late Wade F. Loftin, all of Cooleemee. A 2000 graduate of West Rowan High School, Jason is employed by Taylor Clay Products.
The wedding is Oct. 10 at Canaan Baptist Church in Salisbury.
Gardner Graduation
Dr. C. Michelle Gardner graduated from North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine in Raleigh May 9, 2009, receiving her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Gardner was recipient of the Joan and Glenn Petty Future Equine Clinician Award (2009) and numerous academic scholarships.
A 2001 graduate of West Rowan High School and 2005 graduate of NCSU with a B.S. in Biological and Life Sciences, Dr. Gardner is currently completely a one-year academic internship in Equine Medicine and Surgery at Louisiana State Univer?sity College of Veterinary Medicine in Baton Rouge, La.
Dr. Gardner is the daughter of Drs. Andy and Claudia Gardner of Salisbury.
Gardner Selby Wedding
BOONE ó Jennifer Lynne Gardner and Frank Gordon Selby were united in marriage April 11, 2009, at The Crestwood Inn in Boone. The Rev. Sandra Possman officiated the 4 p.m. ceremony, which was followed by a reception.
The bride was escorted by her father, Dr. James Andrew Gardner, and attended by her sister, Dr. C. Michelle Gardner of Salisbury, as maid of honor. The groomís brother, Dr. Hugh D. Selby of Los Alamos, N.M., served as best man.
Mrs. Gretchen Selby, sister-in-law of the groom, read a poem written for the couple by Mr. Lenard Moore. The photographer was Mr. Ben Martin.
The bride is the daughter of Drs. Andrew and Claudia Gardner of Salisbury and the granddaughter of Mrs. Robert P. Jones of New Bern. A 1997 graduate of West Rowan High School, Jennifer received a Bachelor of Arts from North Carolina State University in 2001 and in 2004 received a Master of Arts in Fine Arts from Central Saint Martinís College of Art and Design in London, U.K., where the couple met. Also a Ph.D. student in 2007-08, she is an instructor of Photography and Fine Arts at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College and an adjunct art instructor at Pfeiffer University.
The groom is the son of Mr. David and Mrs. Audrey Selby of Aztec, N.M., and the grandson of Mrs. Margery Selby of Berkley, Calif. A 1993 graduate of Aztec High School, Frank received a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art from the University of New Mexico in 1998 and a Master of Arts in Fine Arts from Central Saint Martinís College of Art and Design in 2004. A professional artist, he is represented by Museum 52 in London and New York and Galerie Jeanroch Dard in Paris.
Following a wedding trip to Paris, France, and Venice, Italy, Mr. and Mrs. Selby reside in Salisbury.
Hoyle Eagle Scout
Jeremy Nicholas Hoyle of Salisbury is receiving his Eagle Scout award today at Grace Lutheran Church, China Grove, presented by his Scoutmaster, Donny Raymer, of Troop 315.
Jeremy has received 39 Merit Badges, is Junior Assistant Scoutmaster, an OA rep and a member of Order of the Arrow.
The son of Andy and Angela Hoyle, Jeremy is a junior at Carson High School. He plans to join the Air Force following graduation.
Knox – Stetz Wedding
LEXINGTON ó Nancy Ellen Knox and Kyle Michael Stetz were united in marriage Aug. 8, 2009, at First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Dr. Lee Zehmer officiated the 12 p.m. ceremony, which was followed by a reception at Sapona Country Club.
The bride was escorted by her father, John Knox. Attending as bridesmaids were Mrs. Sarah Osborne of Burns?ville, Miss Megan Purdy of Centreville, Va., and Mrs. Stephanie Reszka of Durham.
Best Man was Mr. Kevin Bowman of Springfield, Ill. Groomsmen were Mr. Jeremiah DeGennaro of Greensboro and Mr. Konrad Reszka of Durham, and Mr. Johnathan Osborne of Burnsville served as usher.
Miss Claire Leavitt of Rochester, Minn., served as flower girl, and Master Luke Powell of Summerville, S.C., was ring bearer.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Knox of Lexington. A graduate of Appalachian State University, Nancy received a Bachelor of Science in Middle Grades Education in 2004 and a Master of Arts in Public History in 2005. She is a Historic Interpreter at Monticello.
The groom is the son of Mrs. and Mrs. Thomas Stetz of Allegany, N.Y. A 2007 graduate of the State University of New York, Fredonia, with double majors in History and Education, Kyle also received a Master of Arts in Public History in 2009 from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Following a wedding trip to Charleston, S.C., the couple will make their home in Charlottesville, Va.
LeRoy – Jones Engagement
Mike and Karen LeRoy of Salisbury are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Kayce Ashton LeRoy, to Jason Adam Jones, also of Salisbury.
The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of the Rev. and Mrs. James E. Clark, Sr., of Blacksburg, S.C., and Mr. and Mrs. Gene LeRoy of Macon, Ga. A 2007 graduate of North Rowan High School, Kayce is a student at North Carolina State University, where she is on the deanís list and expects to graduate in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.
The future groom is the son of David and Sandra Jones of Salisbury and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Grubb of Mocksville and the late Mr. and Mrs. James Jones of Salisbury. A 2005 graduate of East Rowan High School, Jason received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from NCSU in 2009, where he was a deanís list student and a member of the Track and Field Team. He will study for two more years at NCSU for his Masterís in Public Administration with a concentration in Criminal Justice and remain a member of the Track and Field Team one more year.
The couple will wed Oct. 10 at Lane Street Church of God in Kannapolis.
Painter Cesario Engagement
Donna Weinhold Painter and Larry Craig Cesario were united in marriage Saturday, July 25, 2009, at the private lake home of Celia and Steve Jarrett in Salisbury. The Rev. Rhodes Wooley of St. Johní Lutheran Church officiated the 10:15 a.m. ceremony, which was followed by a lakeside reception.
The bride was attended by her daughter, Marianna Stout of Salisbury, as maid of honor. Music was provided by flutist and organist Rosemary Kinard and soloist Celia Jarrett.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. Donald L. Weinhold of Salisbury and owns Donnaís Dancers Studio LLC in Salisbury.
The groom is the son of Mrs. Madeline Cesario of Charlotte. He is a National Account Executive for Dunbar Armored Cars Inc.
Following a wedding trip to Manhattan, N.Y., the couple are making their home in Salisbury.
Palmer Siegel Wedding
BOULDER, Colo. ó Jerusha Maxine Palmer and Noah Joseph Siegel were united in marriage Aug. 3, 2008, at Red Lion Inn. The 11 a.m. ceremony was officiated by Eric Burglund and followed by a reception.
The bride was escorted by her father, Woody Palmer, and stepfather, Norman Smith. Attending as maid of honor was her sister, Rachel Zenzinger of Arvada, Colo., and bridesmaids included Erica Jones of Greeley, Colo., sister-in-law of the bride Kathy Palmer of Fort Collins, Colo., sister of the bride Alissa Branson of Delta, Colo., Jeanne Hammetter of Westminster, Colo., and sister of the groom Mahalia Siegel of New York, N.Y.

The bride is the daughter of Alice Jean ěA.J.î Smith and Norman Smith of Montrose, Colo., and Woody Palmer of Olathe, Colo. She is the granddaughter of Maxine Labbe of Denver, Colo. A 1998 graduate of Montrose High School, Jerusha received a degree in Business Manage?ment and Accounting from Regis University in Denver, Colo., in 2003 and a Master of Science in Gerontology from the University of Northern Colorado in 2006. She is a Nursing Home Administrator for Kindred Health Care.
The groom is the son of Liesa Montag-Siegel and Dr. Mitchell Siegel of Salisbury, N.C., and the grandson of Gretchan and the late Dr. Maurice Montag of Woodbine, Iowa. A 1998 graduate of Salisbury High School, Noah received a degree in Applied Optics from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Ind., in 2002 and a Master of Science in Optical Sciences from the University of Arizona in 2005. He is an Optical Engineer for Ball Aerospace and Technologies Corp. in Boulder, Colo.
Following a wedding trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, the couple are making their home in Erie, Colo.
Sutton – Decker Engagement
Keith and Christiane Sutton of China Grove are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Kristen Ruth Sutton, to Matthew Stephen Decker of Charlotte.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Virginia McLaughlin Sutton and the late Raymond Sutton and Cecil and the late Eva Macrinus Corriher, all of China Grove. A 2003 graduate of South Rowan High School and 2007 graduate of North Carolina State University, where she also earned dual Masters in Textile and Ind?ustrial Engineering in 2009, Kristen is Black Belt Six-Sigma certified.
The future groom is the son of George and Carolyn Decker of Charlotte and the grandson of Betty and the late George S. Decker Sr., of Elmira, N.Y., and the late Haviland Smith and Louise Rixon of Charlotte. A 2006 graduate of The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Matt has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Business.
The wedding is Sept. 19 in Charlotte.

Erin Elizabeth Vest and Curtis Stone Rusher were united in marriage June 6, 2009, at Neel Road Baptist Church in Salisbury.
The Rev. Neil Westbrook officiated the 5 p.m. ceremony, which was followed by a reception at Villa Franca Estate.
The bride was escorted by her father, John Vest, and attended by her sister, Leigh Doby of Salisbury, as matron of honor. Her bridesmaids were Marla Rusher, Ashley Mauney, Lindsey Brady, Sarah Scott, Anne Stanton, Shannon Wilson, Lauren Kluttz, Melanie Lee and Brandee Watson.

He is Branch Manager of National Bank of South Carolina in Mount Pleasant, S.C.

A 1997 graduate of Central Park Christian School and 2001 graduate of East Texas Baptist University, Kevin received a Bachelor of Business Management and Master of Business Administration from the University of Denver in 2003. He is office manager at Aqua Clear Pools.
