Adkins 25th Anniversary
Michael Adkins and Cynthia Adkins of Salisbury celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary Aug. 11, 2009. They were married Aug. 11, 1984, at New Bethel Baptist Church in Verona, Ky., by the Rev. Vernon Harkey.
Michael is an attorney with the law firm Kluttz & Reamer, and Cynthia is a teacher at East Rowan High School.
Their children are ENS Nicholas Adkins, of the U.S. Navy, Corpus Christi, Texas, and Lydia Adkins, who is a sophomore at Campbell University in Buies Creek.
The coupleís celebration included time spent at The Homestead in Hot Springs, Va.
Crawford – Foutz
CHERRY GROVE, S.C. ó Jessica Nichole Crawford and Jonathan Edward Foutz of Salisbury were united in marriage Aug. 29, 2009, at Cherry Grove Beach. The 6:15 p.m. ceremony was followed by a reception at Prince Resort Restaurant.
The bride was escorted by her father, Roger Crawford. Attending as maids of honor were sisters of the bride Madison Puckett of Rockwell and McKenzie Crawford of Salisbury. Bridesmaid was Rebecca Hammill of Rockwell.
Father of the groom Bobby Foutz stood as best man. Groomsmen was Rodney Porter of China Grove, and honorary groomsman was the late Joshua Wingler of Landis.
Music was provided by Jeremy Smith and Shannon Veach of Salisbury. Bree Tucker of Salisbury also attended the couple.
The bride is the daughter of Roger and Trina Crawford and Marcie Puckett, all of Salisbury, and the granddaughter of John and Marie Crawford of Salisbury, the late Grace Crawford of Salisbury, Prangle and the late Trudy Brown of Rockwell and Chris and Sheila Morton of Advance. She is the great-granddaughter of Helen Crawford of Salisbury. A 2006 graduate of East Rowan High School, Jessica attended the cosmetology program at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College. She is currently employed in the Jewelry Department of JC Penney.
The groom is the son of Robert and Melody Foutz of Salisbury and the grandson of Paul and Pearl Livengood and the late Clarence and Elise Foutz, all of Salisbury. A 2001 graduate of South Rowan High School, Jonathan is employed at Gamewell Mechanical.
Following a honeymoon, the couple will reside in Salisbury.
Cruse – Stallings
SPENCER ó Amanda Leigh Cruse and Mark Linwood Stallings were united in marriage July 18, 2009, at Calvary Lutheran Church. Pastor Carrie Bishop presided over the ceremony, which was held at 5:30 in the afternoon. The reception immediately followed at the Holiday Inn in Salisbury.
The bride is the daughter of Alex and Jan Cruse and the granddaughter of Mrs. Nell Swanson and the late Marshall Swanson and the late Paul and Liz Cruse, all of Salisbury. A 1999 graduate of North Rowan High School, Amanda earned a degree in Elemen?tary Education from the Univer?sity of North Carolina at Charlotte. She is also a graduate student at Appalachian State Uni?ver?sity, where she is studying Instructional Technology. She is employed by Gaston County Schools and Greenline Design.
The groom is the son of Earl and Margaret Stallings of Elizabeth City and the grandson of Mrs. Beulah Stallings and the late Lindsay Stallings and the late Talmadge and Edna Brothers, all of Elizabeth City. A 1997 graduate of Northeastern High School, he earned a degree in Horticulture from North Carolina State University. He is employed by John Deere Landscapes.
June Alisha Cruse, sister of the bride of Mount Laurel, N.J, served as maid of honor. Cristina Miranda Chalk, of Beaufort, S.C., and Lisa Michelle Stallings of Clayton served as bridesmaids.
Linwood Earl Stallings, father of the groom, served as best man. Matthew Samuel Leonard, of New York City and Jeremy Shane Roberts of Charlotte served as groomsmen.

After the wedding, the couple cruised from San Juan to the Southern Caribbean. They reside in Charlotte.
Dayvault – Hubbard
KANNAPOLIS ó Lauren Sain Dayvault of China Grove and Jonathan Mitchell Hubbard of Kannapolis were united in marriage Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, at New Hope Lutheran church.
The Rev. Kim Trabold and the Rev. Randy Foster officiated the 6:30 p.m. ceremony, which was followed by a reception at The Club at Irish Creek in Kannapolis.
The bride was escorted by her father, Daniel Dayvault. Attending as maid of honor was cousin of the groom Ashley Bostian of Kannapolis. Bridesmaids included sister of the groom Kayla Hubbard of Kannapolis, Ashley Linker of China Grove, Kristi McCarn and Holly Roberts of Mooresville, McKenzi Price of Geneva, Ala., and Amanda Harrelson of Landis.
Standing as the groomís best men were Daniel Combs and grandfather of the groom James Bare of Kannapolis. Serving as groomsmen were uncle of the groom Rusty Bostian, cousin of the groom Ryan Bostian and Kyle Donahue, all of Kannapolis, Heath Rogers of China Grove, David Lane of Salisbury and Max Dayvault, brother of the bride of Landis.
Mahaley PeŇa was flower girl, and Aiden PeŇa was ring bearer, both of Salisbury. Serving as guest registrar was Crystal Williams of Salisbury. Program distributor was Ann Favero of Lynchburg, Va. Erna Brown of Kannapolis was the wedding director.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel P. Dayvault of China Grove and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. K.M. ěBabeî Dayvault of Wilmington and the late Mr. and Mrs. Horace E. Overcash of Kannapolis. A 2004 graduate of South Rowan High School, Lauren received an Associate degree in Nursing from Rowan-Cabarrus Community College in 2008. She is a registered nurse at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast in Concord.
The groom is the son of Mrs. C. Kathleen McGinnis and the late Mr. R. Douglas Hubbard and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. William J. Bare and Mrs. Betty Hubbard and the late Mr. William Hubbard, all of Kannapolis. A 2004 graduate of South Rowan High School, Mitchell received a diploma in Welding from RCCC in 2007. He is a coal systems operator for Duke Energy.
Following a wedding trip to Aruba, the couple will make their home in Kannapolis.
Kinley 80th Birthday
Virginia Kinley was honored with a surprise birthday celebration Aug. 23, 2009, for the occasion of her 80th birthday on Aug. 24, 2009.
The party was held at the Woodleaf Community Build?ing and was hosted by her children, Karen (Keith) Goins, Earl (Cindy) Kinley, Rita (Wyatt) Wells, Judy Kinley and Jimmy (Helen) Kinley.
There were many friends and family in attendance. A special guest appearance by Michael Thomas, a.k.a. MElvis, was enjoyed by all.
McNair – Beaver
The parents of Kelly McNair and Randal Beaver are pleased to announce the engagement of their children.
Kelly is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry McNair of Asheville. A graduate of Western Carolina University, she is employed by Boncombe County Social Services.
Randal is the son of Rev. Gene and Elaine Beaver of Salisbury. He is the owner and operater of Beaver Builders, has worked as a firefighter at Concord Fire Department and has served two years as a contract firefighter in Mosul, Iraq.
The couple will make their home in Asheville.
Rector Graduation
Laura Elizabeth Rector graduated magna cum laude from the University of North Caro?lina at Greensboro Aug. 10, 2009, with a Bachelor of Arts in Hospitality and Tourism Man?age?ment with a concentration in Hotel/Restaurant Management and a minor in Business.
The daughter of David and Gail Rector of Salisbury, Laura is a 2005 graduate of West Rowan High School and is currently employed at the Wingate by Wyndham in Greensboro.
Lomax 50th Anniversary
Bobby Alton Lomax and Betty Stansbury Lomax of Salisbury celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Aug. 29, 2009.
The Lomaxes were united in marriage Aug. 29, 1959, at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Richmond, Va., by the Rev. Dr. Massey Heltzel.
Bobby is a dentist, and Betty is a former faculty member at Catawba College. They have lived in Salisbury since 1960 and are members of First Presbyterian Church.
They have two dogs, GiGi and Jack.
Owen 45th Anniversary
C. Carroll Owen and Bonnie Myers Owen of Salisbury are celebrating their 45th wedding anniversary Sept. 5, 2009, with a family vacation at Cherry Grove Beach, which is an annual trip the family makes.
This yearís trip will include their daughters, Valerie Lorraine Owen of Raleigh, Dana Owen Evans and husband Matthew of Salisbury and Laura Michele Owen and fiance Michael Broome of Salisbury; Mattís parents, Mickey and Marsha Evans, of Salisbury; Mattís brother, Travis Evans; and Bonnieís mother, Lorraine Myers of Salisbury. A treat this year is the inclusion of their two grandchildren, Katherine Bonnie Evans, 3, and Abbigail Ellen Evans, 3 months.
The Owens were married Aug. 23, 1964, at Enon Baptist Church by the Rev. W.J. Stevenson, pastor of First Baptist Church of Salisbury. They then honeymooned at Myrtle Beach.
Bonnie will be presented a certificate for bravery above and beyond the call of duty in living with and surviving 45 years with Carroll.
Ponds – Gregg
Mary Ponds of Granite Quarry is pleased to announce the engagement of her daughter, Alicia Loraine Ponds of Granite Quarry, to Tyrone Gregg of Powder Springs, Ga.
The bride-to-be is the daughter of Alvis Ponds of Salisbury and the granddaughter of Loraine and the late George W. Strawder of Granite Quarry and the late Jasper and Hattie Mae Ponds of Norwood. A 1996 graduate of East Rowan High School, Alicia earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Accounting and Manage?ment Information Systems in 2000. In 2009, she earned her clinical doctorate degree in Physical Therapy. Alicia is employed as a Physical Therapist at Rowan Regional Medical Center.
The future groom is the son of Lonnie and Shirley Lee of Patterson, N.J. He is the grandson of the late Thurmond and Ollie Mae Gregg of Florence, S.C. A 1989 graduate of Eastside High School, he attended Devry University in Atlanta, Ga. Tyrone is a music producer and Chief Executive Officer of SugarBear Prodos.
The wedding is Oct. 11 at Robertson Eastern Gateway Park in Salisbury.
Scheidegger – Alex
Nick and Sandi Scheidegger of Washington, N.C., are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Kristen Danielle Scheidegger, to John Stephen Alex II, both of Granite Quarry.
Krissy is the granddaughter of Fred and Mary Williamson of Wash?ing?ton, N.C., and the late Paul and Libby Scheidegger of Las Cruces, N.M. She is an administrative assistant and real estate appraiser in Charlotte.
Steve is the son of Zeke and Lori Alex of Salisbury and the grandson of Barbara Rogers and the late Jack Rogers of Hydeville, Vt., and the late Peter and Ruth Alex of Fair Haven, Vt. He is the head machinist at The Driveshaft Shop, Salisbury.
The wedding is April 17, 2010 in Boone.
