Rowan Regional Medical Center has a new chief operating officer.
Melissa L. Robson replaces John Pruitt, who resigned May 13, according to a spokesperson for Rowan Regional. Robson worked previously as president of Presbyterian Hospital Huntersville.
She joined Novant Health 14 years ago and served in numerous leadership roles, including director of patient care services and chief operating officer of Presbyterian Huntersville.
Jeff Lindsay, president and chief executive officer of Rowan Regional, described Robson as approachable, dedicated and committed with a very supportive leadership style. Presbyterian Huntersville, under her leadership, he said, “has consistently exceeded benchmarks in clinical excellence, patient and employee satisfaction and financial vitality.”
“Melissa’s breadth of expertise in key strategic and operating roles, combined with her knowledge of physician issues and commitment to excellence in patient care, make her an outstanding addition to the leadership team at Rowan Regional Medical Center,” Lindsay said.
A native of Hialeah, Fla., Robson earned a bachelor of science degree in nursing from Gardner-Webb University and a master’s in health care administration from Pfeiffer University. A registered nurse, she has been in health care for 21 years.
“I am excited to join a team that is dedicated to service, quality and safety in the care of the patients and their families,” she said.
Robson is married, and she and her husband, Jeff, have two children.
Pruitt had served as chief operating officer for three years. Lindsay said he had been a tremendous asset to the medical center and “worked diligently to make the integration into Novant Health as smooth as possible.”
