$10,000 raised at cookout fundraiser
Eleven Masonic Lodges and Eastern Star Ladies of Rowan and Cabarrus counties raised $10,000 at a cookout fundraiser Sept. 6 in memory of firefighters who lost their lives over the past year.
John Wagoner of Keller Memorial Lodge in Rockwell said the 28th Masonic District will offer the proceeds to the Shriner’s Children’s Burn Center in Cincinnati in honor of Victor Isler, Justin Monroe and James Earl Arthur. Isler and Monroe died in the Salisbury Millwork fire. Arthur, a Cold Water volunteer firefighter, died in February on the way to a call.
David R. Cash, Grand Master of North Carolina, made a presentation of the money at Fire Station No. 1.
