The City of Kannapolis has a gift idea for the history buff on your Christmas list.
The city is now accepting pre-orders for “Kannapolis: A Pictorial History,” a hardbound, coffee table book that documents the unique story of Kannapolis beginning in the early 1900s and spanning through the advent of the N.C. Research Campus.
The 304-page book includes more than 500 photographs. Images include G.W. Carver High School, Camp Elliott, Mary Ella Hall, Lake View Station and Cannon Mills.
Kannapolis community outreach coordinator Renee Goodnight compiled the book. The Cannon Foundation awarded a grant to help fund the project, and Judge Clarence Horton provided information for captions of the images.
The book will be available for regular sales in mid-December. To pre-order, go to the city’s Web site to download an order form at www.cityofkannapolis.com or call 704-920-4300. The book costs $30.
