The Humane Society of Rowan County will hold its annual spaghetti dinner fundraiser Saturday from 5-8 p.m. at VFW Post 3006, 1200 Brenner Ave.
Tickets are available through society members and at the door for dine-in or carry-out orders. Volunteers will deliver orders of five or more to local businesses.
Phone in orders to 704-636-5700 before 5 p.m. Saturday. Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children under 12. All proceeds will be used for the medical care of sick and injured stray or abandoned animals.
The organization kicked off it’s 35th anniversary celebration earlier this month with its annual Lights of Love around City Lake. Luminaries were placed in honor and in memory of loved ones with proceeds going to the care of animals acquired by the society.
Nominations for the Susan J. Gloeckler Memorial Awards will be accepted through Nov. 4. These awards are given annually for outstanding contributions to animal welfare. Recipients may not be members of the organization and need not be local residents. To make a nomination, call 704-636-5700, select option 9 and be sure to leave name and number as well as the nominee’s name and contact information.

An Oct. 28 meeting is planned to decide on activities to celebrate the anniversary. Groups and individuals who would like to offer their talents and services in these events should contact the society at one of the options listed above.
