Leigh Rebekah Davis has earned the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest award in Girl Scouting.
It is earned by fulfilling requirements that recognize a Senior Girl Scout’s commitment to excellence as she develops leadership skills and personal values to meet life’s present and future challenges.
A member of Senior Girl Scout Troop 63, she has been a Girl Scout for 12 years. She is the daughter of Jimmy and Kathy Lyerly Davis of Greensboro. She is a senior at Northwest Guilford High School, where she has participated on the Vikette Dance Team and is a member of the National Honor Society, and has been on the Honor Roll all four years.
For her final project, Davis organized and coached a dance team at Kernodle Middle School. The team performed special dances at halftime and bandstands with the pep band at home basketball games. They also performed for the residents of a retirement center.
She is a member of First Lutheran Church, a Faith Mentor, on the Youth Leadership Team and performed in the Youth Christmas drama for six years.
Other honors and awards include National Dance Alliance All American Team, Who’s Who Among American High School Students, Dance Team Coach’s Award, Dance Team Vikette Award and Regional Marvonna Dance Competition MVP.
