Mooresville soldier on leave dies in motorcycle wreck

A Mooresville man on active duty with the U.S. Army died in a motorcycle wreck Sunday in Statesville.
Stephen John Goodman, 27, of Gibbs Road, died when his motorcycle went off Monte Vista Drive in Statesville. He was able to get the bike back on the road but then struck a bike in front of him and crashed into a utility pole.
Goodman was on active duty and assigned to the 91st Batallion Military Police in Fort Drum, N.Y.
As a teenager, he was a member of the Statesville Police Explorers.
Cavin-Cook Funeral Home in Mooresville is handling arrangements.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at the National Cemetery in Salisbury.
