CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) ó Travis O. Rockey will take over as president and chief operating officer of the Evening Post Publishing Co. Jan. 1, the company’s flagship newspaper reported Thursday.
Rockey will replace longtime president and chief executive officer Ivan V. “Andy” Anderson Jr., who will retire at year-end, The Post and Courier of Charleston reported. Rockey has been chief operating officer since 2000.
The company’s board also has elected John P. Barnwell vice chairman and chief executive officer. Barnwell joined Evening Post Publishing in 2005 as senior finance administrator and assistant treasurer and has served as chief financial officer and vice president for finance and administration.
“Travis is the consummate operating officer,” board chairman Pierre Manigault said. “His years of experience combined with John’s good sense and brilliant mind for business position the company well for the future.”
Anderson has been with the company since 1984, when he became executive vice president and assistant publisher. Three years later, he was named CEO, president and publisher. He also has been a longtime member of the Southern Newspaper Publishers Association and was elected chairman of the Atlanta-based organization in October 2007.
Anderson was elected in July to his third term as chairman of the University of North Carolina’s Arts & Sciences Foundation. Anderson earned a bachelor’s degree from UNC Chapel Hill in 1961.
Evening Post Publishing owns 14 newspapers, including the Salisbury Post, Garden & Gun magazine and 13 television stations.
