KANNAPOLIS ó Police have added two charges of first-degree rape against a Kannapolis man accused of sexual misconduct with a 12-year-old girl.
On Thursday, police also charged David Avila Garcia, 22, of 704 Baron Ridge Road, with one count of taking indecent liberties with a minor.
He was arrested Wednesday morning after police investigators first learned of the allegations Tuesday night.
Garcia is in the Rowan County Detention Center with bond set at $200,000. He is scheduled to appear in Rowan County District Court Monday.
The warrants indicate the rapes occurred between Aug. 1 and Aug. 15.
Detective Cheryl H. Hearne was the lead investigator on the case.
