The third annual Stanly County Fly-In and Air Show will be Nov. 1 and 2.
Events and shows are planned for 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Nov. 1 and 12 p.m. until 5 p.m. Nov. 2 at the Stanly County Airport.
The Fly-In and Air Show is a collaborative effort of Richard Almond and Michael Harwood, both licensed pilots who love to share their enthusiasm for flying.
Almond and Harwood, along with the staff at the Stanly County Airport, have tried to create an affordable family event that promotes aviation and the local airport.
The air shows will begin at 1 p.m. Nov. 1 and 2 p.m. Nov. 2. They will feature Charlie Schwenker, an aerobatic flying champion of the Flying Circus.
Also, a 1941 PT-17 Stearman will be flown.
The event will feature radioactive airshow demonstrations, and a radioactive aircraft will be given away each day.
Another attraction will be the 145th N.C. Air National Guard Air Lift Wing Miniature C130. This model has been custom-built specifically for air shows and is making its second appearance in Albemarle. Free rides will be available.
The full size static display C130 will also be on display.
Other displays include a Piedmont Airlines DC3; Static Display Military Helicopters, antique aircrafts and simulators, helicopter rides, food (sponsored by Wendy’s) and drinks (sponsored by Cheerwine).
The cost is $10 per vehicle.
