The Toys for Tots fundraiser at Krispy Kreme with the Salisbury fire and police departments kicked off Friday.
As of 9:30 p.m. Friday, more than $1,200 had been raised, and more than 200 toys had been donated.
“We’re doing very well,” said Arbe Arbelaez, Toys for Tots coordinator for Rowan County. “We’re having a blast out here.”
“People are wonderful,” said Ann Arbelaez, Arbe’s wife.
John Leatherman of State Farm Insurance has donated a storefront next to Pizza Hut for Toys for Tots.
“We can’t thank him enough for the space,” said Arbelaez. “It’s going to help us out so much.”
Please bring a new, unwrapped toy to Salisbury’s Krispy Kreme now through Sunday. For the donation, you will receive a free doughnut or free dozen doughnuts. Santa will also be on the rooftop through Sunday.
