KANNAPOLIS ó More than 130,000 lights will twinkle every night from now until New Year’s Eve in one of the largest Christmas exhibits in the region.
Village Park on West C Street in Kannapolis this year features the return of the Santa Train and Winterland Express, as well as a major holiday light display.
Twenty-five scenes and nearly 100 trees are decorated with more than 130,000 lights. Exhibits include the soldiers that once stood around the lake in front of Cannon Mills and the Happy Holidays display that floated in the middle of the lake.
This year, Village Park also offers a 125-foot tunnel of lights and a 23-foot tall lighthouse.
Visitors to the park can take in the lights via the Winterland Express or the Santa Train.
The Winterland Express runs daily from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. until Dec. 31. Tickets are $1 per person. The Winterland Express won’t run Dec. 24 and 25 or on the evenings of the Santa Train.
The Santa Train includes a visit with Santa, children’s activities and a train ride with Santa as the conductor. Tickets are $2 per person.
