SALISBURY — A seventh-grader at Knox Middle School is accused of bringing a BB gun to school Wednesday, and has been disciplined by the Rowan-Salisbury School System, Salisbury Police reported today.
According to police, School Resource Officer Shanita Millsaps received information Wednesday that a student possibly had a gun on the school grounds; an investigation began.
The student was identified and found to be in possession of a black/brown Stars/Cyma BB gun that looks similar to a handgun carried by law enforcement officers.
The student was charged with misdemeanor possession of a weapon on school grounds.
“We are grateful to those who came forward to make officials aware that the student had a weapon at school,” Salisbury Police Captain Shelia Lingle said.
