Schools hold off sending office plan to county

EAST SPENCER — The Rowan-Salisbury Board of Education will hold off taking the most recent central office proposal to the Rowan County Board of Commissioners until financial details are ironed out.
The school board approved a pre-development agreement to move forward with plans for the 62,000-square-foot facility in downtown Salisbury earlier today.
But they won’t take the agreement to the county board until they receive a nod from the Local Government Commission and determine the viability of New Market Tax Credits that knock off $1.5 million of the building cost.
