Faw Stirewalt Wedding
Swannanoa — Lauren Marie Faw and Brett Alan Stirewalt were united in marriage Saturday, July 16, 2011, at Sleepy Hollow Inn. Pastor Scott Church officiated at the 4 p.m. ceremony.
A reception was held immediately following the ceremony at Sleepy Hollow’s Event Center hosted by the bride’s parents.
A program of wedding music was provided by vocalist Miriam Stirewalt, sister-in-law of the groom, and classical guitarist James Barr.
The bride is the daughter of Michael and Judy Faw of Purlear. She is the granddaughter of Lois Faw and the late Ancil Faw of Millers Creek and the late Doc and Sally Cleary of North Wilkesboro. Lauren is a 2004 graduate of West Wilkes High School and a 2009 graduate of Appalachian State University with a BSBA in Finance and Banking; Risk Management and Insurance. She is employed with BB&T Insurance Services out of Greensboro.
The groom is the son of Tina and Gabby Smith of Kannapolis and David Stirewalt, also of Kannapolis. He is the grandson of Camilla Parham of Kannapolis and Flavel and Shirley Smith, also of Kannapolis. He is also the grandson of the late Jerry and Mary Stirewalt, William Shoemaker and Jacqueline Heilig of Kannapolis. Brett is a 2003 graduate of South Rowan High School and a 2009 graduate of Appalachian State University with a BS in Mathematics; Secondary Education. He is employed by the Rowan-Salisbury School System as a math teacher at South Rowan High School.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a strapless gown of chiffon featuring a fitted bodice and flowing chiffon skirt. The gown had an empire waist accented by hand-beaded lace and ruching detail. The back of the gown had a beaded lace detail from the waist to the hem of the chapel length train. The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of fresh white freesia, lavender sweet peas, fern curls, white and purple double lisianthus, as well as fragrant fuchsia stock.
The bride was attended by her maid of honor, Miss Sarah Broyhill of Greensboro, friend of the bride, and bridesmaid Miss Haylee Church, also of Millers Creek, cousin of the bride. Cory Stirewalt of China Grove, brother of the groom, served as best man and Drew Thomas of Arlington, Va., friend of the groom, served as groomsman. Ushers were Brad Faw, brother of the bride and Travis Rodgers, friend of the groom.
Miss Layla Grogan of Zionville, family friend of the bride, was the flower girl. Caleb Stirewalt, nephew of the groom, was ring bearer. Miss Alyssa Sutton of Oak Ridge, cousin of the bride, was the program attendant.
A rehearsal dinner, hosted by the groom’s parents, was held at the Holiday Inn Biltmore East.
Following a wedding trip to Riviera Maya, Mexico, the couple are residing in Lexington.
