Benjamin Miller Wedding
Vincia Viola Nicole Benjamin and Mandrake Tywan Miller were united in marriage by Reverend Dr. George E. McKain, General Officer of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, and Pastor Steve Combs of Milford Hills United Methodist Church at one o’clock in the afternoon on November 19, 2011.
The double ring, non-traditional ceremony was held at Milford Hills United Methodist Church, Salisbury. The Honorable Mayor Susan Kluttz, also a participant in the marriage ceremony, served as the Inspirational Reader. A luncheon reception followed at the Holiday Inn, Salisbury.
The bride was escorted by her fraternity brother Pastor Henry Diggs of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. and given in marriage by her grandmother.
Serving as Maid of Honor was Tamiko Benjamin of Queens, N.Y. Bridal Attendants were Shalandra Perkins of Queens, N.Y.; Krystal Kelly of Norfolk, Va.; Yamisha Jones of Raleigh; and Keionya Bolar of Ft. Wayne, Ind.
Flower Girls were Sade Onifade of Tallahassee, Fla., and London Wilks of Spartanburg, S.C. Registrars were Susan Mitchell Heyworth of Concord and Teresa Jones of Woodleaf.
LaNaria Barnes of Freeport, N.Y., and Linda Tutterow of Salisbury were wedding directors. The hostesses were Teasia Gist of Mt. Vernon, N.Y.; Natalie Currie of Cleveland; Terri Stevenson of Salisbury; and Tyesia Walker of Concord.
The Best Man was Rodrick Miller of New Orleans, La. Serving as groomsmen were Marcus Goodwin of Salisbury; Shelton Roseboro of Huntersville; Rev. Trishaun Kendall of Windsor, Conn.; and Julian Nelson of Manning, S.C. The ring bearers were Eniola Onifade of Tallahassee, Fla., and Jordan Miller of New Orleans, La. The ushers were Larry Richardson of High Point and Brian Melton of Charlotte. Junior Usher was Justin Currie of Cleveland.
Wedding music was provided by Rev. Vestor Sims, Pastor of St. Marks AME Zion Church of Charlotte. Vocalists were Dr. Ron Turbyfill, who serves as Chair Director of Communities in Schools of Rowan County, and Pastor Steve Combs of Milford Hills United Methodist Church. The disc jockey for the reception was Justin Davis fraternity brother-Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.
A native of Jamaica, N.Y., the bride is the granddaughter of Ms. Ada Hall-Stockton of Salisbury. A 2001 graduate of West Rowan High School, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Livingstone College, Salisbury, in 2005; and a Master of Science degree in Administration of Justic.e & Security from University of Phoenix in 2011. She is a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Vincia is an Admissions Counselor with Livingstone College, Salisbury.
The groom is the son of Pastor Northern and Mrs. Dorothy Miller of Alcolu, S.C. He is the grandson of Mrs. Mary Miller and the late Leon Miller of Manning, S.C., and Mr. Heyward and Mrs. Dorothy Scott of Alcolu, S.C. A 2001 graduate of Manning High School, Manning, S.C., he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports and Recreation Administration from Morris College, Sumter, S.C., in 2008 and a Master of Science degree in Leadership from Grand Canyon University in 2011. Mandrake is currently enrolled at Liberty University in the Master of Divinity Program. He is a Residence Life Coordinator at Bethune-Cookman University, Daytona Beach, Fla.
The bridal shower was hosted by Tamiko Benjamin and Jacklyn Michel of Huntersville at the residence of Jacklyn Michel. Vanessa Patterson of Concord and Tyesia Walker hosted a Hat Bridal Shower at the Salisbury Country Club.
The couple honeymooned in Hilton Head, S.C.
