Man accused of pistol-whipping, assault faces more charges

SALISBURY — Authorities have increased the charges against a Salisbury man accused of pistol-whipping a man and assaulting a woman in October.
David Jumar White, 28, of 631 S. Ellis St., is charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and assault by pointing a gun. He also is charged with assault on a female.
White was already being held in the Rowan County Detention Center for a failure to appear charge. Increased bond is $35,500.
Livingstone Campus Police Chief G.D. Blaire had White charged with assaulting a man Oct. 9 with a handgun and hitting a women in the face and pouring champagne on her. The alleged incident occurred at College Park Apartments.
The warrant for White’s arrest was issued Oct. 31. White survived being shot multiple times in July 2010 on North Long Street.
