Concord fire burns family out

CONCORD ó A family of four was burned out of their home by a fire Friday afternoon.
The City of Concord Department of Fire and Life Safety was dispatched at 2:24 p.m. to a reported house fire at 622 Sedgefield St.
Upon arrival at 2:29 p.m., firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the residence. Seven fire units were dispatched and had the fire under control by 2:43 p.m.
At the time of the fire, no one was home.
The Cabarrus County American Red Cross is assisting the family of four.
Estimated damage is around $35,000. No injuries reported. The fire is believed to have started in the kitchen, but the cause is still under investigation
