SALISBURY — A foot chase ensued Tuesday after a Salisbury Police officer in an unmarked car attempted to stop a man who ran a red light.
Lt. Brian Stallings said an officer tried to initiate a traffic stop after Darmarcus Antoine Richardson, 24, of  Rain Court in Kannapolis, ran the light at the intersection of Brenner Avenue and Old Wilkesboro Road, but Richardson continued driving west on Brenner.
Richardson pulled into a driveway at the corner of Brenner and Horah Street where he jumped out of the vehicle and fled on foot toward the Hefner VA Medical Center.
Stallings said officers caught up with Richardson at the Hudson-Miller-Tatum VFW Post 3006 on Brenner and took him into custody. Richardson has been charged with resisting a public officer.
