SALISBURY — A Salisbury man was arrested Monday after police said he stabbed a man with a steak knife at a Long Street party.
According to a Salisbury Police report, officers obtained warrants for 46-year-old Melvin Ellis on March 31, the night of the incident.
Authorities did not serve the warrants until Ellis arrived at the probation office Monday.
Ellis, of Barbour Street, got into a fight with Samuel Tisdale at a party on North Long Street, officers told the Post last week.
Police said Ellis grabbed a steak knife and stabbed 49-year-old Tisdale in the stomach and leg.
Tisdale was taken in a private vehicle to Rowan Regional Medical Center and rushed into surgery. He was later listed in good condition.
Ellis was charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
He was in jail Tuesday under a $1,500 bond.
