SALISBURY — A gunman placed a pistol to the head of a Safety Taxi driver during a pickup this morning, Salisbury Police said.
The driver was dispatched to 224 W. McCubbins St. and was supposed to pick up a group of people heading to Clancy Hills.
But when he arrived, three men standing near the street approached the vehicle. One of them entered the taxi van, police said, and put a handgun to the back of the driver’s neck.
He later told officers he believed he heard the gun being cocked.
The gunman told him, “he wanted everything in his pockets and everything he has,” according to a Salisbury Police report.
He took about $70, police said.
The gunman then told the cabbie to drive away and the three were last seen on foot heading toward Fulton Street.
The gunman was a black male wearing a red jacket hoodie. No further descriptions were available Tuesday morning.
Police ask that anyone with information about the robbery call Salisbury Police at 704-638-5333 or Crime Stoppers at 1-866-639-5245.
