SALISBURY — Hundreds turned out today for the opening of the new Aldi discount grocery store, packing the parking lot and jamming the aisles.
Open until 4 p.m. today, the store will host a grand opening beginning at 9 a.m. Thursday. Today’s event was promoted as a public preview and tour, the store allowed people to shop and four registers were buzzing.
Salisbury’s second location, the Aldi at Brenner Avenue and Jake Alexander Boulevard features the grocery chain’s “new look” with higher ceilings, more natural lights and environmentally-friendly building materials.
The original Aldi remains open off Faith Road. Many customers at today’s event said they were already Aldi shoppers but the new location is more convenient for them.
