Earth Day Birthday Jam 2012 is happening at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 21, at Saving Grace Farm.
The goal of the event, in addition to raising money for Saving Grace Farm and the LandTrust of Central NC, is to raise awareness for land conservation, recycling, local produce, nutrition, and environmentalism, says Ashley Honbarrier, one of the event’s organizers.
Musicians participating include Andrew Hodges, Sue McHugh, CaLeb Hill and Small Mountain, Gray Wise and Carolina Sky,Yadkin River Theory, Big Break and No. 9 Coal.
The LandTrust, Bread Riot and Wild Turkey Farms will be on hand. Food and drink will be available, with the help of Wild Turkey Farms, Bread Riot, Simply Good, The Sweetest Thing, Blue Waters Pool, L.A. Murph’s and Andy Maben of the Salty Caper. Flowers will be provided by Godley’s Garden Center. Pork sandwiches, chicken wraps and vegetarian meals will be available for purchase.
Vendors will include Tranqwool Provisions (knitting, weaving, spinning), Ashley Pierce (art professor at Catawba College) and Ashley Honbarrier (hemp and beaded jewelry and crafts). Body and Sole Integrative Health, Team Chevrolet and PowerHouse Recycling will participate in the event.
Kids’ activities will teach about art, reusing, recycling, growing plants and environmentalism.

Tickets, which include raffle entry, are $15 for 12 and up. Children 12 and under are free with paying adult. Tickets are on sale at the Salty Caper, The Sweetest Thing, Tastebuds, Simply Good, Stringfellows, and Saving Grace Farm and can also be bought at the event.
