SALISBURY — A Salisbury man is in jail after Rowan deputies say he molested a 4-year-old.
Jimmy Lee Farmer, 58, turned himself in on charges of first-degree sexual assault of a minor and indecent liberties with children about 3 p.m. Tuesday.
Farmer, of Burksway Drive, was released in 2007 after spending about 24 years in prison for beating his 28-year-old wife and 8-year-old daughter to death with a piece of wood in Davidson County, Rowan investigators said.
He was initially sentenced to 100 years in prison, according to the North Carolina Department of Corrections website. The report said the child and an adult were visiting Farmer on March 8 when the incident occurred.
The child was evaluated at the Terry Hess house, the report, as a part of the investigation.
Warrants were obtained for Farmer on April 19.
He was in jail Wednesday under a $50,000 bond.
An article from The Dispatch of Lexington about Farmer’s arrest in 1983 is available online.
