GOLD HILL — Fire investigators believe a fire that destroyed a mobile home Sunday morning started near a panel box at the house.
Rowan County investigator Aaron Youngblood said units were dispatched to the home on Shai Lane about 3:30 a.m. Sunday.
No one was injured during the fire, Youngblood said, but the home was destroyed.
“It was an accidental fire,” he said. “We think it started around the panel box.”
The home is owned by Kenneth Price. He and his wife were out of town at the time, Youngblood said.
A family member was staying at the home when the fire started, but woke up and attempted to contain the blaze to the area around the residence’s master bedroom.
“They contained the fire to half the structure,” Youngblood said, “but the smoke and water damage tore up the rest of the house.”
The fire remains under investigation.
