Davie County got two hits apiece from Nick Boswell, Karch Arey and Will Beeson and defeated North Davidson in the semifinals of the Central Piedmont Conference tournament on Thursday night.
Ryan Foster was the winning pitcher for the War Eagles (18-4), who play for the title tonight against West Forsyth at Reagan.
• Northwest Cabarrus got a complete game from Justin Dixon and defeated J.M. Robinson 12-2 in five innings Thursday to win the SPC Tournament crown.
Corey Seager and Evan Holub had three hits each for the Trojans. Weston Smith had two hits.

Michaela White had three hits for Carson in Wednesday’s 11-0 win against East Rowan

North Iredell head coach Chris Davidson has resigned, effective immediately.
MMA
Willie “War Head” Hosch (Salisbury) improved to 2-0 in MMA with a TKO against Travis Davidson in Lynchburg, Va.
Hosch expects to return to action as part of the card for the “Rock at the Dock” on May 12 in Lake Norman.

Baseball
Tanner File doubled and scored the winning run in the eighth on a passed ball in Erwin’s 13-12 win over mooresville on Thursday. Bryant Godsey and Geoffrey Lillywhite had two hits for the Eagles (8-3), who travel to unbeaten China Grove on Monday.
• The Greater Cabarrus Homeschool Stallions improved to 17-7 with a 4-0 win over the Forsyth High School Homeschoolers. Hunter Shepherd pitched a three-hit complete game. Josh Holt had two hits.
• Pinch hitter TJ Warren delivered a two out single to give West Rowan the lead as the Bulldogsedged Southeast 2 -1. Tyler Wheeler got out of several jams in the sixth and seventh to go the distance and record the win. Caleb Link had two hits.
Boys tennis
Southeast beat West Rowan 9-0.
Singles winners included Graham Purcell, Hunter Carlton, Jared Javurek and Landon Perkins. Doubles wins acme from Youker-Bisbe and Knabbe-Cipres.
Boys soccer
Knox beat Corriher-Lipe 5-1. Josh Lynch scored two goals and had three assists, Arturo Ramirez had one goal and two assists and Matt Woolly and Santiago Caballero had one goal a piece. Mariano Rodriguez-Cruz, Diego Beltran, Sammy Suggs, Jose Cordova and Matt Woolly all played good defense. Chris Vera got the win in goal.
• Southeast beat West Middle 9-0. Ricky Maldonado and Brandon FLores scored twice while Brian Fragoso, Braxton Rogers, Raunel Vasquez, Pedro Perez and Luis Araujo also scored. The defense was led by Jesus Jaimes, Micky Benitez and Carlos Cortes.
• Southeast’s girls lost to West Rowan 2-0. The defense was led by Meliza Hernandez and Graciela Nunez, who filled in for Tera Pena in goal after the first half.
American Legion
Sign-up date to play Rowan County American Legion baseball is set for Sunday, May 6, at 3 p.m. at Post 342 Harold B. Jarrett on Lincolnton Road in Salisbury.
Any player born on or after January 1, 1993 is eligible to play in 2012.
Please bring original birth certificate with a raised seal.
Any player who attends Salisbury, East, North, Carson, or West whose home is closer to Salisbury High (base school) than South Rowan, Mooresville, or Mocksville (Davie County) may sign up. Parents are encouraged to attend the meeting.
The Junior Legion team will have sign-ups at the same time.
Any player born on or after Jan. 1, 1995 is eligible to play on this team. Players should bring their original birth certificate with a raised seal. Parents are encouraged to attend this meeting.

South Rowan American Legion baseball will hold sign-ups on Sunday, May 6, at 3 p.m. in the building behind Gary’s BBQ.
To be eligible, you must have been born in 1993 or later.
All players from South Rowan High are eligible for the team.
Players that attend Carson, West Rowan or A.L. Brown, whose legal residence is closer to South Rowan High than Salisbury High, Concord High, Northwest Cabarrus, Davie or Pine Lake Prep are eligible to play for South Rowan Legion.
Players will need an original birth certificate with a raised seal, insurance information and a parent to sign permission forms.

The homestanding Kannapolis Intimidators exploded for 10 runs over the first two innings —including a pair of two-run home runs in the second by Mark Haddow and Dusty Harvard — in an 11-1 win over the Augusta GreenJackets Thursday night.
Kannapolis (11-15) scored 11 unanswered runs on 16 hits on a night when every Intimidators batter collected a hit, paced by Haddow’s four-hit performance.
