SALISBURY — Vandals destroyed more than $3,000 in electronics at Rockwell Elementary School over the weekend.
School employees realized a classroom door had been damaged and checked to see if anything had been taken on Saturday, a Rowan County Sheriff’s Office report said. They later found a second classroom had been broken into and vandalized.
Three desktop computers, a projector and a projection screen were destroyed, the report said.
Authorities estimated the damage at $3,550.
Investigators said a door connecting the classrooms was pried open during the break-in. The initial classroom was not vandalized.
Despite the damage, detectives do not think anything was taken.
Deputies are continuing to investigate.
