Summer fun: Salisbury High offers science and math academy

SHS Academy of Science and Math
Salisbury High School’s Summer Academy of Science and Math offers hands-on experiences in science and math for rising seventh-, eighth- and ninth-grade students.
To enroll, students must have an interest in science and math, have grades of B or higher in those classes by the end of the year, and live in Rowan County.
The program emphasizes scientific experimentation and mathematical problem solving that is both age- and subject- appropriate.
Students may attend either one or two weeks of the program (topics are repeated; e.g. same curriculum weeks 1 and 4, and weeks 2 and 3). The sessions are held at Salisbury High School during the weeks of July 9-12, July 16-19, July 23-26 and July 30-Aug. 2 from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.
