CONCORD — Cooperative Christian Ministry will offer a Mobile Food Pantry Thursday from 10 a.m. to noon. The pantry will be held at The Village Shopping Center, 280 Concord Parkway S., Concord, and is sponsored by Harmony United Methodist Church, Bethlehem Baptist Church and Maranatha Worship Center.
Mobile food pantries are offered 11 times per year by Cooperative Christian Ministry. These food distribution programs are held in neighborhoods of high need and overcome the lack of transportation for many struggling families. They provide supplemental groceries at no cost to those who need groceries.
On average, each mobile food pantry distributes more than six tons of food to 350 needy families. Clients say the program allows them to pay for other necessities.
Registration takes place the day of the pantries; each family takes home at least three bags of free groceries. At registration, families will provide a name, address, number of people in the family and the household’s gross income.
Two mobile pantries will be offered in June – June 7 at First Presbyterian Church, 201 Vance St., Kannapolis, and June 21 at Calvary Lutheran Church, 950 Bradley St. NE, Concord.
