SALISBURY — Rowan investigators have added a first-degree rape charge to a man accused of molesting a child and having sex with a dog.
Matthew Curtner was arrested in March after deputies said he admitted to the accusations during an investigation.
According to a Rowan County Sheriff’s Office report, Curtner said he had committed other sexual offenses “quite often” and some had been committed “over the last 20 years.”
Deputies said the Department of Social Services began investigating allegations that Curtner molested an 11-year-old child.
He was initially charged with three counts of first-degree sex offense of a child, three counts of indecent liberties with a minor, crime against nature-bestiality and cruelty to an animal by torture, all felonies.
Curtner remains in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $1 million bond.
